THIS IS HOW IT STARTED

Helping Hands International is an organization that was born out of care, passion, and concern for the less privilege. It is a story of a little girl whose parents were unable to cater for, and give her the "basic" things of life.


 

As a little girl, Luzviminda suffered a lot and had to struggle for herself to survive. During this time she made a commitment in her heart that if God will help her become somebody in life she will NEVER neglect the less privileged.

 

One day, as she was hawking potatoes around the street in Philippines she met an American man who came to do business in Philippines. And this American asked her, "little girl why are you not in school?" she replied that she was not in school because her parents were too poor to put her in school". So the American asked if he can meet her parents?

When they met, he demanded from them to let him take their daughter with him to America and they obliged. The American adopted little Luzviminda, and took her to America and put her in school. She grew up in America and started working. After working in America for many years, she now thoughts to herself that it was time for her to fulfil her childhood dream. She left America and went back to her home country, Philippines.

On getting back to Philippines she started a Non-Governmental Charity Organization Called HELPING HANDS. Her organization started by adopting indigenous children who are out of school, and orphans. The Organization caters for them and put them in school. She started to give humanitarian support to widows, handicapped and all categories of less privileged person.

In the course of doing this, she met with a Dentist Medical Doctor, called Dr Ramiel Policarpio, who also runs an NGO that focuses on supporting the aged and elderly people. They now thought it wise that since they have a similar VISION that it will be good for them to collaborate together and create a bigger organization so they can be able to reach out and to help more people.

That was how these two guys joined their resources together and changed the name of the organization from just HELPING HANDS, TO
HELPING HANDS INTERNATIONAL (H2I)

Someone genuinely interested in his fellow man, who is ready to go the extra mile to make the next person believe that he can be what God made him to be. My heart pants consistently for the down trodden. I can't turn away from the less privileged"

By this time they have conceived a bigger vision of working BEYOND the borders of their countries THROUGH PARTNERSHIP with INDIVIDUALS and CORPORATE ORGANIZATION.THIS WAS HOW H2i began.  As the organization started getting bigger, it extends its activities from Philippines to Japan, from Japan it extends to Cambodia and Pakistan, and to India, and they gradually cover most countries in Asia and the Middle East.

Together, step by step, little effort here, little effort there, we shall change the world“


However, Helping Hands International gets to Africa by what could be described as luck, because Africa was not part of the original plan of the organization. But, sometimes, in 2013, Dr Ramiel Policarpio CAME TO ATTEND A MEDICAL CONFERENCE IN ABUJA.

 

The African Representative Dr Odeghe

"My name is Dr. Timothy Odeghe, a graduate of Optometry from University of Benin, Nigeria. I must say that my involvement with H2i is divine, I never knew that it will amount to something massive and impactful as we now can see in Helping Hands International. H2i is truly God given vision, with it we shall reduce poverty and unemployment rate in Africa. We are here to stay“

It was at that Medical Conference he met a Nigerian Doctor, Timothy Odeghe and they became friends. It was in the course of their conversations that Dr Odeghe got to know about the activities of H2i in Asia. So Dr Timothy said to his new friend that since their organization is about HELPING POOR PEOPLE ... that THERE ARE MANY POOR PEOPLE in Nigeria that can benefit from their organization. And he requested that their organization should extend its activities to Nigeria.

So the organization WROTE a proposal to the Federal Government of Nigeria and IT WAS GRANTED! H2i started in Nigeria on December 3rd 2013.

HELPING HANDS INTERNATIONAL (H2i) AFRICAN REGIONAL OFFICE WAS OPENED ON FRIDAY 30^TH MAY, 2014 AT EGBEDA LAGOS

While H2i Was Officially Launched In Africa On Saturday, 31st May, 2014 At Samat Hall Behind Tantalizer, Ikosi Road, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos

The founder/ceo, mrs luzviminda mac-elvis, m.d., hyundai motors and other dignitaries were present at the event, together with partners from other african countries like ghana, cameron, etc.
