Wenger makes history as Arsenal defeat Chelsea to win 13th FA Cup Wenger makes history as Arsenal defeat Chelsea to win 13th FA Cup Arsenal denied Premier League champions Chelsea a double this season after a thrilling final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, as the Gunners lifted the English FA Cup for a record 13th time. The Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has now become the most successful manager in the FA Cup history with seven titles. Arsenal took the lead five minutes into the game through Alexis Sanchez, though controversial as the linesman had his flag up for Aaron Ramsey, who was standing in an offside position. Arsenal dominated the first half but could not double their lead. Super Eagles forward, Victor Moses, was given a second yellow card on 68 minutes for diving in the penalty area, and was sent off the pitch. But the Blues got back into the game through Diego Costa’s 76th-minute shot, only for Ramsey to head in the winner two minutes later,

Applicant Tracking System: A Possible Reason You’re Still Unemployed

If you’re job hunting, then you should be familiar with ATS, not Accounting Technician Scheme but Applicant Tracking System. Who knows, it may be the reason you’re not hearing back from employers after submitting your application and invariably, the reason you’re still without a job. Applicant Tracking System is a computer software used in managing recruitment processes. It reduces the workload of recruiters in that it helps them screen-out candidates who do not meet certain criteria for the position like years of experience, academic qualification, skill set, etc. ATS is commonly used in developed countries, USA, UK, Canada, etc, but I’m not sure how common it is with Nigerian companies. But for certain, it is being used. A few friends of mine in HR have personally confided in me that they use Applicant Tracking Systems in screening candidates. That it makes their work easier as they have to spend less time reviewing CVs. However, the purpose of this article is not to inform you that

Image
Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo said he had never met All Progressives Congress leader, Bola Tinubu, when he was appointed a commissioner in Lagos State. Osinbajo served as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State during Tinubu’s administration. Osinbajo said: “I did not and I had never met Bola Tinubu before I was appointed Commissioner and that says a lot about the kind of individual that he is. This is the kind of thinking that makes nations great; that is the kind of thinking that would make Nigeria great. “A type of thinking that considers all of our diverse talents; a kind of thinking that does not allow parochialism; a kind of thinking that does not allow us to say anywhere belongs to only a set of people. That is when our country would be truly great.” Osinbajo said although he was sympathetic to the course of those craving for a Lagos for only its indigene, but it was now evident that the momentum of history could no longer hold down the elem

Since June 2014 when the prices of oil fell from about $ 110 per barrel to the current average of $ 50 /barrel, the fortunes of the world ’ s fifth largest exporter of oil has nosedived sharply. With a major fall in economic growth from a six per cent average to the current negative position , jump in inflation from nine per cent to 17 per cent , and severe weakening of the naira from 150 / dollar to 305 /dollar on the official market and 380 /dollar on the parallel market, the economy is believed to be on a life support. This , according to experts , is evident in the

Happy Democracy Day Celebration

Happy Democracy Day Celebration to Nigerians. Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria! When Democracy Was restored 18 years ago @Eagles Square, Abuja. I congratulate and join Nigerians to celebrate 18 years of unbreakable democracy in Nigeria. I remember when the campaign was going on in 1998, there were doubts about the sincerity of the military to let go of power. After Chief Obasanjo, running under the PDP defeated Chief Falae of AD-APP, every attention was on General Abdulsalam to honor the May 29, 1999 date. Then the bitter experience of June 12, 1993 annulment was still fresh in the memory of Nigerians. At the end, democracy triumphed! Happy Democracy Day... Nothing can replace freedom

Tunisia rescues 126 migrants who set off from Libya

Tunisian security forces on Saturday rescued 126 sub-Saharan migrants including seven pregnant women who had been trying to reach Europe from Libya, a Red Crescent official said. Fishermen had alerted the authorities to the presence of a vessel in distress off Ben Guerdane in southern Tunisia near the border with Libya, Dr Mongi Slim told AFP. Among the migrants were 48 women, seven of them pregnant, and three children. Those rescued were mainly from Nigeria, Mali and Gambia, and had set off from Libya, he added. They were taken to the Tunisian port of Zarzis to be given first aid before later being transferred to nearby Medenine, he said. People traffickers have exploited the chaos that has ravaged Libya since the 2011 revolution that toppled and killed Moammar Gaddafi to expand their lucrative trade. Each year they send desperate migrants seeking a better life in Europe on the dangerous voyage to Italy, often aboard boats in too poor a condition to complete the trip.

HEATHROW AIRPORT: More flights delayed due to global computer system failure

Thousands of travelers are still stranded at London’s  Heathrow Airport  due to a global computer system failure causing chaos with about 40 flights cancelled thus far. However, British Airways has resumed some flights from Britain’s two biggest airports after the system failure, with the airline battling to contain the “knock-on disruption” to schedules, with aircraft and crews out of position around the world. British Airways said it was hoping to soon operate a near-normal schedule of flights from Gatwick, London’s other major airport, and the majority of its Heathrow services. The global computer system outage caused massive delays and left planes stuck on runways even as the British Airways said there was no evidence the problem had been caused by a cyber attack. “Please do not come to the airports. We have experienced a major IT system failure that is causing very severe disruption to our flight operations worldwide,” the airline said in a statement yesterday. “W
